Next to that depending on the lift brand/ design and driving habits, Bushings tie rods and baljoints wear quicker. Haven't had a problem with CV joints personally from a lift but had heard of boots tearing prematurely. The newer body truck like that one can also develop an issue with traction control and abs lights popping up. Something to to with wheel and speed sensors not being within a specific difference of each other. Solved by a computer tune or plug in tuner which also would fix speedo reading and help with mpg. Exhaust, cold air intake and tuner help greatly. Also if it has a 2 PC drive shaft the carrier bearing tends to go out quicker especially if a drop bracket wasn't installed. Watch for a vibration on takeoff. 37s on a 6" lift are going to rub my 35s rub every now and then depending on how the trucks sitting.

My brothers 05 ext cab 5.3 6" lift on 35s gets 16-18 on the freeway still. K&n intake and flow master dual out cat back.

    I have two right now.

    And a 99 sierra ext 4x4 4.8 4l80e swap rcd 6" lift on 35s bilstein 5100 shocks

Love me my lifted gm trucks.
I agree. Trans is gonna be my biggest problem. Thanks for your input. You've been very helpful.

Anything specific I need to check for? It drove pretty darn good today. I hate the fact the tires gonna cost an arm and a leg to replace.

Just make sure you take a really good test drive. Transmissions can hide problems until fully warmed up. Check for a vibration or slight thump on hard takeoff from a dead stop. Obliously visually check suspension parts and anything else you would normally check. If its at a legitimate or bigger dealer chances are the put it through service and checked it out in which case you can ask for a copy of the inspection/repair sheet so you know what was needed. With that mileage you should be good if it wasn't totally beat on. If it drives straight and smooth at higher speeds for a decent amount of time it should be good. I had one the would drive perfect until long distance 30+ mins of highway speed. The after getting off the freeway it would shift stupid hard and throw codes until it was shut off for about 10 mins. Ended up being a computer detected slip at higher speeds which increased line pressure which led to hard shifts afterwards.

Yea, tires suck no way around that. There $400 a corner for my 06 for the cheaper ones lol. Just make sure you do some research on tires so you get what best suits you, your truck, and driving conditions. Usually best to pay the extra $50 or whatever a tire and get something good. Crappy tires on a big truck get annoying. And most shops at least here charge extra for alignments on lifted trucks but deffinitly do it.

    Last question.

Warranty is voided with the lift. Still a good deal? I'm scared.

Right now payments are at 430.

IDK if gassers have the issue, but tie rods will bend and buckle if you nail it in 4x4, and CV axles will go boom as well if you launch hard in 4x4. (tie rods at any angle, CV axles are an issue with the big lift trucks, puts em at bad angles)

Brake lines rust pretty badly etc.
    Correlation does not imply causation.

Well I know where I'm at generally dealerships only void warranty on replaced parts or parts that fail as a result of the replaced parts. As far as value and deal the more u haggle them down the better in any case but you would have to look up kbb in your area and search for similar trucks and there prices to compare. Its not a bad price in my area for what it is. Pretty much in line for what would be stickered here then generally would drop a little to get it sold.

More than likely gonna buy this evening. 24,500 with a payment of 430 a month.

The warranty is still good on the power train so I feel a little better and at 37k miles I think truck will be good for awhile.

Guess next question will be about tires lol...

I'm sure it has been tuned for the tires to correct the speedo right? If so, there may be no power train warranty.

Most common way their corrected is plug in tuner which owners tend to take with them when they trade them in which reloads factory tune. It can also be taken off when warranty works needs to be done. At least the tuners I have experience with are that way. And they also act as an interface showing alot of good info on the digital display.

What kind of driving and climate do you do/are you in?

ask the dealer (if its a GM dealer) if they can correct the speedo for the tire size
1994 Formula, 396cid, AFR 227's, Single plane, and 2 of the big ones.

I'd say they took the tuner with them leaving the speedo off.

Climate is some snow ice in the winter. This truck will never see off-road. Well very little lol.

I brought it home today. I'll take pics tomorrow.
