And I disagree that a 35 mile ride depicts what we are trying to depict. Street car is such a vague statement, and I believe ANYTHING can pull off 35-50 miles as long as their fuel cell is large enough...... However a 700 plus mile drive (one way) and the ability to NOT break during the race, then another 700 mile drive home... I believe that is a true (to the extreme) street car...

And the temp guage element.. Unles I run my AC, my car WONT go over 180-185..... so Im in.... lol
I consider my car a street car since I do drive it on the street quite a bit. No way in hell I would even think about driving it 700 miles one way. It would eat all 4 tires and go through 90 gallons of gas. That's about $700 in tires and $300 in gas, no thanks.

Yeah no kidding, that's not what hurts a car. Cruising is the easy part, it's the idling in traffic ie; the sitting in the heat that is tough. That is what separates a true street car from a pretender. Make a true street car sit on 110 degree pavement for 5 minutes at an idle. They need to be moving to get enough air to cool their motors.

I think the "true street" class does a good job of deciding what exactly a STREET CAR is with their 35 mile ride. I think they could add 2 small elements to it though. Have the cars sit on pavement at an idle for 5 minutes with the hood down and just the fans pushing air right after the 35 mile ride. Then have them shut off and start back up within 30 seconds. A lot of guys would cringe as they watch the temp gauge go up into the 210-220 range, lol.
I guess you're right about no way to verify the cars were actually driven all the way, unless of course a third party was tagging along behind to verify. But like popo said, I'm pretty sure the honor system isn't taken lightly between him and I.

As far as the 35 mile cruise in traffic....have you ever been to Bowling Green? Lol, I assure you the is plenty of stop and go traffic just getting into town and to the hotel!

And my car never breaks 190* even in the summer, so bring on the idle/restart thing

Get your fans coming on sooner, then install an electric waterpump. Problem solved.

Oh, and Colin, your crew better be tagging along in that dirty ass SUV! And you better have Angela with you, Po Po. Got to have some drinking/bull shitting buddies while this all goes down!
Not to worry, that dirty-ass suburban will be taggin along. No way that everyone that wants to go would fit in the z28
If this actually happens, and if it happens the same time as the ltxshootout, that dirty-ass suburban will likely be pulling a trailer with the latest edition to our LTx powered vehicles

I thought you guys were trying to make this into a class or something for next year, with some rules and a long-distance ride.

"Since I was so proud of my cars 740 mile trek to BG KY, and everyone was asking me to race, we got to discussing a "street car" competition between Colin and myself... Both of us drive our vehicles the 12 hour trek to the trak, race, and drive home....."
