Spoke to spohn tech support, he told me point the pinion down about a degree and try it. said with all rod end suspension/torque arm the pinion angle isnt going to vary under load nearly as much as a poly bushed car (which is where the ole -2 down comes in) and he doesnt see why it would have the pinion pointed up on a fbody

so the good news, the pinion angle change worked. just gear whine now.
the bad news, nitrous backfire on my 3rd pass last night. first pass went 10.46. only on a 150 jet. blew the maf screen/sensor out into the air box. happened right on the line when i hit it. i footbraked it to 1800 as usual, as i did the 2 passes before.
the car has been having a random stumble/stalling issue coming to a stop hot. it was only once in a while, but now has been starting to get worse. this was pre and post boom in intake.
well i think it showed up as a larger issue, now the car doesnt want to idle with a new maf, feels like it's down on power, and now its spitting back thru the intake when revved at idle (it never did that). no codes either is the frustration. the throttle body blades look straight, and since it started happening pre backfire, i think the root cause is ignition related. i just had the opti off again, did something get tweaked maybe??

I have the car's original MAF sensor, should still be fine, screen is intact.
Only had one intake manifold backfire, as a result of one of the nitrous solenoids leaking on the burnout. Bent the bottom 1/2 of the TB blades 90° outward.
Maybe check the MAP sensor for damage.

so the frustrating thing is the plugs look fine, everything looks fine. iac counts are perfect at idle, blm's are perfect at idle, map value perfect, maf value perfect. but the car just does not sound right and pops back thru the intake when revved, which it NEVER EVER did. fuel pressure is good, cant find any vacuum leaks.
Gonna switch the opti. the delco on the car is 10 or 11 years old and unopened. @Injuneer going to put ur delco opti back on it. still has the rotor in it too so if i swap and its still weird i can disconnect ltcc and rule that out (which i would be VERY frustrated as i just had bob bailey refresh it 3 months ago)

removed the delco opti from the car last night, believe the culprit was the grenaded opti rotor, it blew the rotor arm/contact off and must have been bouncing around inside the opti. wondering if this was the cause of both the random stalling issue and also the backfiring thru intake/nitrous backfire.
fingers crossed. putting your og opti back on it @Injuneer, but with a modified rotor to hopefully avoid this problem again for the rest of the seasonLTX Hoarder
