    Just ordered up one of the Ebay caps for my kids car... will the stock rotor work with the MSD caps?

    Yeah the stock rotor should work just fine what we recommend doing if it hasn't been done yet is to just lock tight the screws to make sure they don't come loose

    the stock rotor will work....but both the cap & rotor are wear items. I really would not put a new cap on with a old rotor as the rotor tip is worn. It will still work but more like replacing just 1/2 of your spark plugs

    Thanks for the info - I am going to get another rotor when I change the cap, just wanted to make sure the stock replacement could be used or if I had to go get an MSD rotor.

    @96z28SideSwype

    I couldn't find Tubby's data log, but this week I received another one showing totally erratic RPM signals, and the same result.... idle speed goes up when the RPM signal spikes unrealistically, causing the PCM to increase the IAC counts. The PCM also advances ignition timing in response to the high RPM spike. In this case it's even more severe - the spikes (in a fraction of a second) are as high as 7,000 RPM, even though there is no indication that the engine is actually anywhere near that RPM (just from looking at MAP and MAF values).

    As far as I know, the RPM is taken from the Opti pulse signals. I realize that there could remotely be a problem with a high voltage wire being too close to the Otpi/harness setup, and I will ask the owner of the car if he has checked that.

    I am prepared to provide you with the Excel file of the data log so you can have the tech guys at MSD look at it, if possible. Let me know.

    Thanks!
