I find it funny you ask for advice,(ammo specifically then optics) then tell me to "learn ballistics". I have a great deal of knowledge of ballistics, what I think you are referring to is TERMINAL ballistics.
refering to .223 as a pussy round...
Try not to take my dry sarcasm as gospel, as much fun as it is watching internet commandos freak it is dry sarcasm.
terrminal ballistics, In my experience bigger is generally better when killing a four legged critter. I would not hunt anything but coyotes 30-60 lbs with a .223 and even then it has to be an ethical shot or in commando terms "shot placecent"?
I'm not debating your internet knowledge of .223 tumbling but everything ive shot(cars, huge sheets of ice, propane tanks ect) with .223 fragments except for long range where it has no energy left. (Most) Match and bonded bullets stay totally intact at 3-400 yards and don't penetrate much of anything.
I have not recovered a bullet that has destabilized yet that went through anything besides paper at commando distances.

So Saturday I picked up a Glock 26 Gen 3 I had put on Lay away at our local gun store(like new with 2 mags and box for $399. Thn I put this on Layaway. Never got much into shottys butI thought it was cheap and looks fun to shoot. Tri star raptor ATAC. Got it for $239. Anyone have one of these? I thought a automatic shotgun under $250 was a pretty good deal either way

Tristar is a Turkish import, but I have not found much on em. Other than they are heavy, but thats speculation really on my part. For that price, as long as it shoots halfway reliable, its a fun gun
Itching to get one of their O/U for this fall season.Correlation does not imply causation.

I got rid of my m&p for a Turkish import....canik tp9sa. Already disabled the decocker. Shoots nice, feels walthery. Much better than that m&p.

This Gun store opened up the week before Christmas and they have some good deals, Plus it is about 5 miles from home. I have bought 6 guns from them since they opened up. They started the lay away deal a couple months ago and It works out really well. I can buy something and not have to come up with a big chunk of change at once. They also said that they get a lot of Tri star Demos. They have a Tri star Marine pump with a small spot on the receiver for $215.
