Savage has some mail in rebates that are worth looking into.
kills me I spent over 800 on the fcp SR without a scope base a few years ago and now they are in the 500 range with the ewg base with the Mail in rebate.

I would think it being a 9 it could go much longer, when it comes to the recoil spring how long it will last is ... opinions are like a holes. But it's basically the only maintenance peice so why not especially if it's your only pistol.
