and since you have pulled coil & ICM confirm all wires that ground to the head there are good (no broken wires at or near eyelet crimp)

You may have a "intermittent" issue which can be frustrating and may have nothing to do with the various parts you have swapped.

I chased a random car would just shut off for some time.....by chance I touched the wires on the 4 plug connection going into top of Opti while car was running. It immediately shut off. gave a little tug to each wire and the brown wire came right out of its crimp. Defective connector wiring from factory that was a biatch to find. replaced the Opti wire harness on PS

Not saying this is your issue but some random issue like that being intermittent can cause havoc and frustration in finding.
Yea I will look at all the wiring, and the grounds are directly on the left head, and yea I swapped coils also already. When it did start last weekend, it would not run for very long, not sure if the wp sensor needs to be connected, although I temp installed the wp and connected the sensor and it still did not start.

    Thanks

Well after all the pain and problems, finally got the car back together and running. Took it out Sunday, and it ran like crap, break up about 3500 rpm, get it home and start looking in general as it is running, and move the harness over the icm, and it dies, get the wife to start it as I wiggle the harness and trace it down to the icm connector, would start and I could make it run good or bad or just die. So I think most of my problems are in that connector. I will swap it out and let everyone know how it turns out.

Yea that's the next disaster waiting to be fixed, think I will order a new set of GM lifters and some gaskets this weekend and get started as soon as the Impy is up to speed. Not even really sure it is the lifters, but some engine friends seem to think it is, and a fairly easy fix. If it doesn't solve it, it sits in the corner for a year or so while I work on an LS swap.

Well Mike you may have found that needle in the haystack. Been there

Even just "looking" at wiring often is not enough as a break in the wire can be "under" the insulation or within the connector.

You found a hard fault causing a no run condition. Hopefully this problem is behind you....yeah others will pop up. Part of the car mod & hobby thing

Easy Chico, I'm not swapping just yet, just hate to have it sit with a problem for long term, and the lifters are fairly cheap ($100 from Texas Speed) and some time, but if it does not solve it you can have the whole motor, it even has vette Alloy heads.

Can't really complain about having engine issues, I built it when I was still in the military, and I have been retired 9 years, so its going on 10+ years of doing nothing more than oil changes and launching it like the Space Shuttle, lol. Been really lucky. So if it is terminal, I got my money out of it. Even with it making noise, it still pulled and made power. Be interesting to see what's under the intake. Should see in a few weeks.
