Choices for 88mm turbo?
My goalre's what I have so far;
383
Lunati Sledgehammer crank
Billet rods
Forged JE pistons
Ported Trick Flow 195 heads
Port matched LT4 intake
8.8:1 CR
My goal is 1,000 at the tire.
I decided to go with an 88mm turbo, and I was thinking a Precision. Question is, which one?
PT8847 ($2300)
PT8884 ($2700)
PT8891 ($2700)

I really don't know much about the turbos past the descriptions on Precision website. The car will be street driven mostly, so I want good mannerisms on the street.
I haven't picked out a cam yet but that's down the road.
I plan on running a large FMIC and meth injection. I want to stay on the 93 octane though as e85 is not readily available.

8847 would be a dream charger for me
Have you looked into borg worner stuff? BW S400, BW S475 etc..Correlation does not imply causation.

I have, but I can't get over how freaking huge the Borg Warner turbo housings are. They are a better value, but saving the difference between the two will not nearly make it up when I find out it won't fit under my hood. And I don't know for sure it won't yet, but I do know that space is llimited, and that the Borg warner turbo will be taking up a lot of real estate that the Precision would not.

I don't know much about Garret turbos. Most guys I know either go with Precision or BW. I did read once on LS1 tech one guy who did have problems with his Precision turbo, and their customer service did reflect your opinion. But all the guys I know with them habe never had an issue with them, so I would feel comfortable in buying one.
The price of that particular turbo is $400 more than the PT8847. I guess I would need to learn more about the Garret turbos before I could make a good decision. Customer service aside, is their quality or performance better than the Precision?

I've never had any experience with precision, I think they make a good product. I'd say if you have a lot of people in your area running them with no problems then go with precision. If your only goal is 1000 rwhp go with the 8847, if you think you might want to turn it up a little bit in the future go with the 8884 or 8891.

if i am not mistaken ... i was under the impression that the stock block is only good to about 850 - 900 hp ... much more than that and the blocks start failing.

Realisticly, I'll probably roll around with 800, then turn it up to 1,000 to show off or when going all out. Its not ever going to be a track car, so I doubt I'll be able to even harness all that power, let alone more.
This is my first turbo car so I don't have any direct experience either. If I knew the S500 would fit, I would likely go with this turbo, but I don't know that it will. Are Precision and Garret the only other options?

Turbonetics is another small frame company.
