I have always been a Glock guy at home and a SIG guy at work (When I'm not footing the bill.) The G20 10mm is a a flatout badass, you can bear hunt with that beast. Going to shoot my AR from firebird_1995 and my Glock 19 today.

Idk about anybody else but my wife and kids are a little intimidated by my 12guage. However my wife, 12 yr old daughter and 10 yr old son have all shot the glock with no worries. My youngest son is 5, he sticks to the 22LR for now :-)

I would check out a range that lets you rent guns, shoot as many as you can and pick the one you like. 600 max budget gives you alot of options.

I'm with you...especially if you are unsure of what exactly is behind your target. Drywall and insulation don't slow a round down by much. I still use my G22 still but with only 2 of us living in my house. I'm 95% sure if your at the bottom of my stairs at night; Your not supposed to be there. Sorry back to the real topic.

.410 or 20ga low base/bird shot may not be as effective as 12ga 00 buck, but I'd bet the farm it would send a clear and concise message.

Oh I'm sure, but what firearm wouldn't send that message to be honest? If I was the bad guy I doubt I would say to myself "oh that sounds like a 22, I'm not scared of that"
Or am I missing the point?

Besides how fun is a 410 to plink at the range?

As stated, if you live where you have no worries about rounds penetrating your neighbor's house then pistols are fine, however for those who have houses 10 or less feet between a pistol may not be a good idea.
