Fuel pump question..?
Hey guys so. My car wouldn't start from spark issues. Found out that's to shhbox it was my icm. Anyway now soon as my car starts it dies but if u peddle the gas it will stay started untill you bring up the rpms to about 3000 and it stays starting with starting fluid and my fuel pressure is low.. So what is the best fuel pump to buy... As in. Reliability and performance. Thanks guys. If it wasn't for this fourm my car wouldn't of been running at all

a lot of people put the walbros in or the racetronix with the hotwire kit in... i'm sure a stock gm oem replacement pump would work fine as well... Probably wouldn't hurt to change your fuel filter out either while your doing the pump.

Thanks I was just looking at texasspeed.com and they have a racetronix on there for 150 bucks which isn't so bad... I have another question.. If I cut the hole on top of the tank will it rust over time.. Cause I do live in Chicago and wether here is very bipolar and my car is a daily driver untill first snow fall. But sometimes I still have to drive it in the snow.. But if I don't drive it in the snow anymore would it rust with age..??

I wouldn't worry about it rusting... If it's of concern I would recommend you go buy a quart of chassis saver paint and apply it around the hole your going to cut if you think it will rust... You really aren't going to get any water/salt above that tank to get rust in that area... on the piece I cut out to get to my old pump, I put some padding/carpet on the bottom of it cause my dad lays floors and it was laying around lol

Hey guys sorry I didn't get back to anyone. My uncle did a brain surgery so everything was kinda at a stand still... Anyway I tested the fuel pressure. And it was at 35psi.. Before I go cutting my car and buying a fancy new fuel pump. I wanted to know if that was low enough for it to not stay started. Cause soon as it starts it dies in like a second but if u peddle the gas it will stay running. For a little while. Thanks guys.

While cracking its at like 35psi but it goes up just over 40psi. And now it just staying there. Is 41 42 psi normal.. I Tried to simulate idle by peddling the gas to keep it around 700 rpms and it was still just over 40psi.. But the engie had a really tough time getting up to 3000 rpms and wouldn't go a hair over and throttle response is terriable it's like a 3 second delay... I can't figure this problem
Out at all everyone was telling me check ur fuel pressure but it seems normal from what I read 41-47 psi is normal for this cars.. What else can cause this problem...??
