Honestly I think it'd do everyone in this country good to travel to a 3rd world country at least once in their lifetime. The first time I went there and came back here, I realized how much shit I used to take for granted. Hot showers, drinkable tap water, reliable electricity, a washer and dryer, fast internet, wifi all over, a car to get around with as I please, restaurants that stay open past 10pm, TRAFFIC LAWS, etc. I came home and basically stopped bitching about just about anything I had been whining about beforehand lol. Also really helps you open your mind to other cultures when you're the foreigner and everyone looks at you funny for some of the customs we have here.

90% of people have no idea how good we have it here... ITs a great idea. Unfortunately, the biggest issue is the American mind set in a 3rd world country will get people killed , hurt or raped, etc when flaunted or acted out in the wrong place.

For sure, and that's why I think anyone who goes needs to meet up with either a local contact to lead them around or find someone here who's either been or grew up there. Put a group of American tourists together and they just stick together in their comfort zone. It's not until you're force out of your comfort zone cuz you have no other Americans to relate to that you begin to be humbled and open your eyes.
