Sounds like your builder wasn't worth a shit. In the right hands, they can be strong.

Another vote for an 80, if you race alot.

Automatics are easier on the rear end as well.. So I'd stay in the automatic transmission field if you're on the track a lot.

I'd advise to stay away from anything from Monster. We're setting up to be a vendor on here very soon. I was kinda waiting for Fastbird to get settled after his move. I own a transmission shop in Delaware that specializes in racing and performance 4L60Es. I can assure you that they can be built to take an amazing amount of abuse. One of our customers cars was just in the November issue of GM High Tech. It's a 4100# '95 Impala that runs in the 9's. The trans has been in the car for 4 years. We have them in 10 second cars that are over 7 years old. We ship nationwide. I was hoping to have our new web page up by now, but I've been so busy lately. Here's our Facebook page... http://www.facebook.com/pages/CPT-Ca...0204401?ref=hl

And here are 2 links to a couple GM High Tech cars we did 4L60Es for... http://www.gmhightechperformance.com..._with_carnage/

A 4L80E is completely unneccessary and will guarantee to slow the car down 2/10s. We do swaps back to '60Es now because of how much they slowed cars down.
