I hear ya. I definitely agree with not doing anything too close to the shootout and not overlapping events. And I think as the ball gets rolling more people will get involved and there will be a increased need for order and and coordination, right now we just need to get started. What do you think about this....
If you are interested in planning an event in your area, start a thread with the general location in the ltx events sub forum so everyone can see the details and be a part of the planning. (?)
This will show you who could possibly end up making a committee. If you can't get someone to head up an event in their area, its not going to happen. Example being, a guy that lives in Florida would have a hard time planning something in southern California without knowing the area or demographic.Chris

X2 I'm going to try to get something together in few weeks. Probably something small like a cruise to the track on test and tune night to try and get interest started.

What did you think about starting a new thread in the ltx events forum for each area interested? And keeping it related to that area only. That way people don't have to sift through pages and pages of stuff to get details. Think it would help or hurt?

I mean, even if you're not exactly sure what or when you are doing something the post would basically start like this one did.
"Is anyone interested in an (insert area here) gathering? We've got (blank) and (blank) to offer, I was thinking about doing (blank). Who's in?"
It seemed to work pretty good in the beginning anyways....Chris

Late to the party but I honestly think the regional subforums that we already have would be a good place to start forming the committees and events. If there's enough interest in the event from the local folks, then start inviting the folks from outside the region as well. We already have the regional sections broken out so in my mind it seems logical to start there and then work out.
Granted the regions are pretty spread out. We're kind of spoiled here in Michigan since we have a car show anywhere within an hours drive every day of the week during the spring/summer/fall months. I honestly couldn't see myself driving to IA, MO, NE, WI, MN, etc just to go to a car show unless it was a nationally recognized show partially sponsored by GM such as the "Back to the Bricks" FBody gathering in Indianapolis in 2008 (which was the last out of state show I've been to).

well, if you want to have a nationally recognized show i would say we could meet up sometime at a super chevy show, i know this past year they were in st. louis, but i would be down for travelling a little bit to meet up somewhere if anyone wanted to do that
