Im gonna get my car in the air, and confirm that its just the passenger side leaking. If my inspection so far has been correct, it is sneaking out past the gasket where the front outside provision for perimiter vcs is. If I can CONFIRM that, I will throw some silicone in the holes, and put it back together, then confirm the PROPER way of tightening those cantons.

I love the way they look, and I would really like to make them work, but oily messes under my car WILL NOT fly with me, so they will get ONE shot... then they will be for sale..... CHEAP!

Hopefully you get them to work Larry! I am a happy Canton user myself. Used Mr. Gasket cork gaskets (had to trim some pieces to make them fit) and used red RTV.

Well Im gonna dupli post this and hopefully this will be the end of both threads,,,

BUT, as some of you know, I have been fighting a leak from the passenger side CANTON valve cover on my new top end....

I believe that its because of a few reasons....

#1 because we had to modify the VC slighly for the gaskets I chose, and for the extended length of the shaft mounted rockers, there was some distortion.....

#2 becuase the AFRs have both center bolt holes and perimiter holes... I believe that the oil was sneaking out, right where the perimeter hole is in between the front two primaries.......

#3 because the gasket I chose have the perimeter eyelets..... (see reason 2 also...)

    Sooooooooooooooooooooooooo

We got the car in with the help of BLUE BOTTLE Z, and began pulling it apart....

Look at those sexy T&D shaft mounted rockers.... (such a shame to hide $1200 pieces) so Im gonna post pics when I can, lol

Everything was cleaned, and the perimeter holes on the gasket, as well as on the AFRS were filled in with some silicone...

And although I have no pics, with the help of LEADFOOTLT1, and his body shop, body work skills, he tapped the distortion out of the vc, and filed away some minor CANTON imperfections....

Cleaned and put EVERYTHING back together, and 2moro BLUEBOTTLE Z will fire it up and let me know if she stays DRY.....

FINGERS CROSSED, because if she does... its TUNE TIME!!!!
