i think it was brilliantly filmed, that and they had the actual guys speaking before the show started about their experience, not a movie, but nothing beats the reality they faced.

My Great Uncle (RIP) was one of the guys portrayed in that series. He died outside of Foy, France in episode 6 or 7. If he would have made it 2 more weeks he would have made it through the war because they never fired a shot about 2 weeks after the battle for Foy. They just marched straight up into Germany.
