    Prochargers are superchargers

    I don't care for the maggies personally. Other than low end torque, they really have no benefits over centrifugal style superchargers that produce more boost/power more efficiently. Not to mention theres nothing worse than having a huge heat soaker right where you don't want it to be.

    But to each his own The magnusons do sound good.

    Roots type blowers will make boost much sooner and faster at lower RPMs, giving you better low end response and power/torque. But they run out around 4000, where centrifugals take over. Those will always make better peak numbers, and build up more boost and are more efficient above 4000.

    So it's all a matter of your driving habits. Centrifugal would be better for a car that sees high RPM a lot (like drag), while roots would be much better for spirited street driving. Not to mention roots has its distinctive whine, which IMO sounds awesome.

    We were discussing this in another thread somewhere on here. So far there have been a couple promises of LT1 roots kits, with no results. I for one would love to see a kit come out, but the LT market always seems to lag behind the rest.

    Excellent and accurate points. There is a LTX kit out there. It was published in GMHTP mag a few issues ago;

    "Dragon Race Engineering Supercharged LT1
    Block:
    LT1, 383 cid
    Compression: 9.2:1
    Rotating Assembly: Callies forged crank, Manley forged rods, Diamond forged pistons
    Heads: DRE (reverse flow)/Edelbrock Victor Jr.
    Cam: Custom hydraulic roller, 230/240 duration
    Intake: DRE LT1
    Power Adder: DRE 1000M Screw Supercharger
    Fuel System: DRE dual inline
    Horsepower: 900 (at the wheels)
    Torque: 850 lb-ft"
