I'd do a Gen III/IV swap. Easy enough, and sorry to the LT1 crowd but for the same amount of money you can have a mill with more potential.

I'm JEALOUS. I used to have a 91 GTA that I miss dearly anymore.

How is it the same amount of money when an LS motor and tranny is twice the cost of an LT1 with tranny? Not to mention with the LT you can still use standard sbc headers, motor mounts, etc.

Thirdgen LS1 headers alone are $800 and thats more than the price of a complete LT1 longblock.

Correct me if Im wrong. I would like to go LS but Im a broke mofo. LT with spray looks like the cheapest way to go rape some LS cars to me?

I posted on Ltx tech expecting to get some feedback on an lt1 swap since they are all ls1 nutswingers on ls1tech. But I guess it seems even most members on this site are here because they are "stuck" with an lt1....

I just don't see a better choice with a budget in mind. Am I right or am I wrong?

    you're right, however i'm confused.

why would you sell a perfectly good LT1 car, a real WS6 no less, to buy a 3rd gen only to put an LT1 back into it? seems like you're gonna be right back where you started only with an older car that doesn't have the in your face look like a 96-97 black WS6 does.

LMAO at this one. lol with a budget in mind, go find a built lt1 that has a couple thousand miles on it. I did see a complete lt1 on ls1tech, original everything, had 60k miles MAYBE and he wanted like $900, now that would be in your range i'm sure.

Install welded-in subframe connectors first. That's always the first thing you should do with any thirdgen.

Swap in a LT1 with a 6 speed or 4L60E. Replace all of the LT1 gaskets, even the head gaskets before you swap in the LT1 motor. Get polyurethane motor mounts and transmission mounts, don't waste your time with rubber-mounts. Coated long-tube headers would be best.

I can tell by looking at the pics that the car should have the WS6 RPO code. Which means 36/24 swaybars, quick-ratio steering box, and rear discs. The little "Performance Suspension" badge in the interior on the passenger side of the dash was my clue.
