Default Not much of a kill, but...

...I get them so rarely that I will post up.

My mods: K&N CAI, 1LE Elbow, Airfoil, Magnaflow Catback, LS1 Driveshaft, 3.42 Rear End, Nitto Drag Radials

I was cruising with my friend and my brother was following in his 2002 Z28. As we neared the highway this kid in a 2000ish Volkswagon Jetta (non turbo) come flying past. I thought he was just driving fast, but then he started pacing me a couple cars ahead. I tried to get next to him, but he always took off before I got near him. Finally I hit it from a couple cars back and went flying by him. He didn't nail it, but he knew I was interested now. He flew past me again and then paced a couple cars ahead. Once we got on the highway he punched it from a couple cars in front at about 60 mph. I figured that I probably wouldn't be able to catch him with my very mild auto LT1 from such a high roll, but I hit it anyway and by about 105mph I was blowing past him. I put a few cars on him by about 120mph and then backed off and sure enough he pulled the flyby, lol.

Like I said, not much of a race, but my first on in a long time, lol. My LT1 is my slowest car, and it's funny that you forget how slow normal commuter cars really are when you don't drive them, lol.

Later that night, my brother pulled a U-turn to try and race an S197 GT. It was an older guy driving so I didn't bother, figuring he wouldn't run it. Turns out that he was game and got smacked around by my brother pretty good (400rwhp 2002 Z28). Now I wish I had followed since that would have been a much better race, even if I lost, lol.

I'm planning on going to the track next wednesday as long as the weather is good. The car feels alot stronger (mostly due to the gears since they were 2.73's stock). If I had to guess I'd say that I'll come home with slips in the 13.8 or 13.9 range, which would be almost a 1/2 second improvement and make me quite happy so far.

My car stock was 14.3 at 97.8

CAI, Magnaflow catback, and 4.10 gear went 13.64 at 103.5 with similar 60'

Your car should react the same! Maybe better?

I would be totally psyched of I hit anything faster than a 13.8. I'm definitely looking forward to taking it up to the track. I haven't gone to Epping in years and it was a real fun time last time I went (usually I go to Lebanon Valley Dragway). I think the last time I went to Epping was when I had my 1994 TA A4 and it had a similar setup to my car now. I think I went 13.8 @ 100mph. Tha car was faster stock though (14.1 @ 98mph) because it had 3.23's instead of 2.73's.

I'm trying to set up a race against this kid who has a very mild bolt-on (similar mods to mine) 1999 GT 5-speed. His best time is a 14.0 @ 100 mph so it should be a great race and the kid is real cool.

Well, no new times yet because it rained yesterday. I haven't decided if I'm gonna go next week or not yet, but I'm going to check out a shop tonight to see about a tune for it
