    Default Debateing on cam swap?

After going to the track today & running the nitrous for the 1st. time, now i'm not all hyped up on doing the cam change, i ran a 100 shot, & on the second pass it clicked off a 12.51 @ 112.87 on a slow 1.98 60ft., i was very surprised how well it did, i know theres still more in it, now i've collected most of the cam stuff, cc503/howard springs/comp pushrods/1.6 RRs/viton seals/ARP studs, will going through the hassle of a cam change be worth it, what would you guys do, i'm sure with the re-tune it'll be worth a good 50 rwhp, but damn its doing pretty good on the bottle & the VCs have never been off of it lol, its still fully dressed too, even has the spare/jack still in it, so help me make up my mind, or at least give me your thoughts .

with that many miles i personaly would do a rebuild with a cam swap rather than just a cam swap

I would save for a rebuild or find a lower mileage motor if you are going to continue to look for power and spray it.

yes many have done what you are doing, but it's only a matter of time before something lets go

I think the bottom end will be fine as long as it's a clean install and not overrevved, I'm just worried how long it'd be before he spins a bearing with over 400rwhp on the bottle

I'm thinking if i do keep the nitrous, i'll just install the 1.6 rockers/springs/pushrods, at least that'll keep the valvetrain more stable, but if i install the cam, i'll re-tune it & take off the nitrous, i'm running a window switch, i have it set @ 3000 on/5600 off, with it trapping at 113, its going through at about 5700 in 4th., tachs reading around 5900, i'll sit on it & think it through, this car has been very well taken care of, mostly highway driven the last 100K, with nothing but synthetic oil.

Just do it and keep the rpms down a little. Nitrous doesn't care if you shift a little early. Just more torque to be had.

The thing about adding a cam to your car is you lose the awesome sleeper appeal you have now.

Well i'm heading back to the track tomorrow in search of some 12.3s or better, i'll post up some slips of the runs, i'm going for a 12.4 on the 100 shot, then drop in some 125 pills, maybe i'll see that 115 MPH too , we shall see.

There's more to a sleeper than the looks of a car.

And I don't see why anyone would be worried about the "sleeper appeal" of a fbody. It's not like it's a well kept secret that fbodys are quick compared to the average car.
