No radar is reliable. That's probably about as good as you're going to get on your budget though.

I'd only use radar as a backup. I only paid $60 for mine (and it's not a good as the radar I posted) but I figure if it saves me from one ticket it's paid itself off easily.

Use common sense, know where radar traps are in your area, slow down going over hills and around corners, etc.

Me personally? I try to find a car heading my way (IE as I'm leaving Kansas City I'll look for fraternity/k-state decals and plates) going about the speed I want to go and I follow a few cars behind them. I typically go about 75-78 and keep my speed consistent and that's how I get my best fuel economy in the SS (~29 highway)

I don't speed in the truck(s) because they get shitty gas mileage over 70.

I have a cheap, cheap Whistler and it works. The only thing is you have to get used to when it is picking up false signals vs. real signals. It's like getting a new cell phone, at first it's difficult to work then it just becomes 2nd nature.

I want an Escort or Valentine, but I've just decided that I'm going to slow down and only run 8-10 over. I used to run 80 in a 65 all the time, now I keep it about 75.
