95-97 T/A Steering wheel in a 93-94?
Just always thought the 93-94 steering wheel with radio controls was ugly and liked the 95-97 (98-02 is a different shade of grey) wheel better. Does anyone know if you change them will the airbag and radio controls from the 95+ plug into 93-94 harness. I've searched alot and get mixed responses but no one that has actually done it, always the I know someone that has thing. If it is possible would it be possible to use the steering wheel from a grand prix because they look the same and obviously easier to find a wheel from one of them.

I did the swap from a 01 T/A in my 93. They didnt start the ebony till 01, years before that had dark pewter/charcol.
Air Bag
The air bag plug was different from the 93 to the 2001. I was able to find a new plug, soder and heat shrink the connecion and get it to work for a while. Ideally you want to change to what ever year clock spring.
Radio
Far as radio controls/horn, it all hooks up the same. Far as controlling the radio, this is my experience on a 93. The 93s have a year specific radio, I tried using my radio controls from the new wheel to run it, nothing worked right, each button did some thing, just far from any desired result. The 1994 cars have the updated radio, this may be in face only. My 1993 radio control plug would not work with a newer radio out of a LS1, physically different. One big thing I need to say, my steering wheel controls never worked so long as I had the car on the old wheel, they had power, just never worked for what ever reason.
What are your options?
Ditch the factory radio and get CD player that allows you to use a infared remote. Then go read the sticky on ls1tech or where ever on how to get your radio controls to work, you need to buy a pac box and program it.Last edited by Neil350; 02-20-2009 at 08:58 PM.

The steering wheel is probably the only thing I hate about my T/A especially since the radio controls only work when it's really really cold. I know theres a write up to fix them but I just think the wheel itself is ugly so why bother. I think I'm going to try and stick with the 95-97 wheel to avoid any possible issues.
I was finally able to sell my daily driver to pay off most of my bills. Now I'm driving the T/A all the time just want it to be comfortable.
Anyone have a steering wheel they want to sell me at a decent price?
Will have to do a write up on this too1994 Trans Am GT- M6, 72K, Green/Tan, GMMG, Moroso CAi w/ Vortech elbow, Airfoil, TB Bypass, B&M ripper, 18" Chrome Zo6s

Oh I forgot to ask, Neil where did you come across an airbag plug. Get a new one from GM or you cut one out of another car?
Thanks everyone for all the help.1994 Trans Am GT- M6, 72K, Green/Tan, GMMG, Moroso CAi w/ Vortech elbow, Airfoil, TB Bypass, B&M ripper, 18" Chrome Zo6s

It took some looking around, but eventually some one had one for me. Rockauto may sell the plug, you would need to dig about their catalog but I remember seeing some plugs for air bags. From what I recall the 93 used a box style plug, where as the newer one used a circular? Dont quote me on that. How ever the wires are the same from gauge to color, green and white, just the plug changed for what ever reason. My problem with my stock wheel was the leather began to came undone. I had gotten a wheel cover but it looked cheasy. Ended up getting the wheel I have now off of LS1tech from some one parting out their WS6. I have a friend who did the swap in his 94 V6, his wheel may have came from a 99, but the plugs were the same. Safe bet would be to get one from an LT1 or early LS1 car if you can find one in good shape. In this picture, take note of the dash cluster bezel, it's a good idea the color difference between charcol and ebony.
