I personally wouldnt do it as you mentioned you already had form fitting mats in the trans am. however I would never put a chevy motor in a ford car either. yet many people do.
Personally since the car meant so much to you I would save them and use them beside the bed to put my slippers on at night. by doing that you could honor the memory of the camaro every night and every morning. and they wouldnt get worn out like they might in another car.
Ultimately they are your your mats and your car, do what is going to bring you personally the most joy for the longest period of time. Even if it's putting them in a display case on your wall.

Don't get me wrong guys, I'm not either a purist or saying don't do it, well maybe there just a bit cause I know some purist who own real Pontiac Trans Am's. And they don't even that since the late 70's has there have been any pure Pontiac's or mid 70's. Any way seems apart from Larry (can I call you Larry?) just wanting input and me with way too much Ill sorry to tubby and snm or anyone else. after all the real thing here is ones happiness. This is what grinds my gears, is my inability to communicate.
