Default Wow, I'm sitting on a gold mine

I've been noticing a (ridiculous) trend with C5 Corvette's, mainly forced induction cars and astronomical sales prices.

Take this one, a 2000 Auto Supercharged car:

I am looking to sell my 00 supercharged C5. I am willing to trade for a C6 depending on the year, model, mods, miles, etc. I am not looking to trade for any other type car/truck or boat. The car is factory mag red with Z51 suspension fully loaded car. the air blows ice cold and can be taken anywhere. I built it to be a street car and thats what it is. Took it to clearwater florida and got an average of 26mpg. all power options are still in tact and fully functioning. There was alot of time and money put into this build and once you look at the parts list you will agree!! I have receipts and a ton of pics of installs etc of everything done with the car.Asking price is $39k

the common steering wheel position sensor is bad (does not effect drivability what so ever)
    heads up display is sagging
some of the led bulbs are not working
    needs a starter
still needs wide open throttle tuning to finish the tune and with old tune and bigger pulley i believe it was making 826/705
I am working on fixing alot of these issues asap (nobody wants to buy a car that wont start so starter is 1st on my list!)
It's pretty ugly IMO, and doesn't have a lot of REAL work into the car. $39K? Wow. The real gem in this one is that it's got a bad Steering Wheel Position Sensor, which is a DISCONTINUED part on the 1997-2000 models and shit tanks your active handling which he conveniently forgot to mention.

Then there's this one which is just as laughable to me:

Thinking of selling my 02 APS Twin Turbo Z06. Im not 100% convinced I want to let her go but.The car has 36,xxx both body and engine. Turbo set up was done installed and tuned by Mike Norris when he was here in Orlando. The Cam build was done by Vincci Performance. I have a complete list of parts and labor reciepts from both shops. The car has a stock bottom end.
The car made 607 RWHP and 630 RWTQ on 7.5 PSI and 15 degrees, It was pulled back to 12 degrees and is currently around 580/580
Its a blast to drive drives like stock until you get into it. Boost in very liniar and the TQ is amazing
    Visual Upgrades include:
    Tiger Shark Rear Bumper
CCW Race Classics 18x10 18x11.5 Powered coated flat/gloss black
Tires have about 2-3,000 miles on them and are in great shape
DD Modds Double din conversion with full system
    80% dyno mat coverage.
Auto meter carbon boost and fuel gauges
    A4 Black leather seats

    Go Fast parts;
APS Twin Turbo kit with upgraded Turbo Werxs scavenge system and Forge BOVs

    Crane Gold 1.8 Rockers
    Crane dual timing chain set
    Ti Retainers
    Dual Springs
    Moly Rods
    160 therm
Magnaflow Cat back two tip for Tiger Shark
    Trexzilla Cluth
    Remote bleeder
    New master
    Hurst Shifter

Im sure im forgetting some things but thats the jist.
The good- Car needs nothing its ready to role and gets 26-30 mpg in the HW depending on how fast your cruise. A/C blows ice cold .Very fast and driver friendly. Everything works!!!.

The bad- The tiger shark rear paint is "ok" its good from 2 feet. I had planed to repaint it. If buyer is local I have the stock rear bumper in excellent condition. Normal rock chips that you would see on a C5. Both drip rails are cracked as is sadly normal on many C5z but they dont leak.
Ok, it's a pretty low mileage 02Z. With a base turbo system and supporting mods. That does NOT add another 12K to the value of the car.

I feel fortunate to have paid $25K for my car last year with a fully built motor, upgraded fuel system, upgraded turbo's, C6Z TR6060 and differential, etc. Maybe I should put mine up for $50K and go buy a ZR1. sheesh.

I just went through this on my C6, the problem is you can ask what ever you want but selling it is a pain because every one is trying to get financed for it. So it's either sell it for book value or put it back to stock.

A customer that we have bought an 01, supercharged vert. Its a Lingenfelter built car with an ugly IMO black and yellow scallop paint job. It came with 50k on the clock, exhaust leaks, and a check engine light. He paid 35k for it. Took it to a dyno and it made 425hp.

Neil I think your car would be an exception as I know how meticulous you are with your cars. I didn't know you were trying to sell the C6 BTW. WTF?!?! Anyway, a properly done car will usually be able to fetch a premium. But there's a lot of cobbled together cars that guys are asking crazy money for and it's just laughable.

The problem I saw was, the Z06s are spread pretty wide in price. Super clean low mile example still demand decent money, how ever high mile not so clean cars are starting to touch high 20s, bottom 30s on a fairly regular basis. I know one of those cars was a full Heads/Cam bolt on car with right at 100K miles. So that really hurts when you're trying to sell a base car at prices near those levels no matter what it is. People tend to want the C6 Z more.

Yours would be like mine. Well done, clean, not thrown together, etc. You just have to stick to your guns and wait for the right buyer. I can't tell you all the lowball sub $20K offers I got when selling my car back in 2010. Then Ernie came along, cash in hand, and deal was done. Most of the lowballers are kids with dreams more than anything I think.

C5z's have jumped in price big time in the last yr. Like 15-25%. I'm not sure why but I'm glad I picked mine up when I did for a hair over 15K w/ 112K on it. Modded just right too. Crazy to think possibly doubling my money but. I want a C6z but not willing to give up the C5z to do it.

Sean, you made out like a bandit. LOL

Of course, there's a lot of people who just low ball to see if you'll take it. I know several people like that, the car did end up selling. What's weird is when some one low balls you, then gets offended when you don't take their offer.

The offended part for sure. Like the guy who offered me $18K for my car when I was selling it then got pissy and said "Well I'm not paying $25K for it." I simply didn't respond after that.

Neil, what are you asking for your car? Curious.

I was asking $27K, ended up getting about that. Car sold to another car guy, so far he's been driving it a ton. He put a 1K miles on it the first week he had it. It'll be a while till I buy some thing again.
