The background check for any gun transfer is just a form of registration, they know who has what. NICS is the registry.

NICS is used to find out where the San Bernardino shooter weapons came from. It's used to track weapons period. How do you think they find out where weapons come from? Technically you need a warrant to use NICS, but the data is there.
It's only used to track legal guns, doesn't track illegal guns. Tin foil hat that idea.

If Barry was serious about gun crime he could enforce laws on the books(he isn't), for example gangsters walk in and out of prison after weapons convictions. Democrat shit holes are the leading cause of gun crime. Take those numbers out of the "statistics" and there is no gun problem.
Instead he purposely makes it a mess for legal innocent gun owners.

Uh, last I checked NICS does not ask for SN of firearms and does not retain info for more than 24hrs.

. Per Title 28, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 25.9(b)(1), (2), and (3), the NICS Section must destroy all identifying information on allowed transactions prior to the start of the next NICS operational day.

All it does is say you are a person deemed worthy to purchase a firearm. The FFL will record the SN and data on you.

I did say the actual system records it, wich if you trust the government, it doesn't, hence the tinfoil hat response.
If you are stupid enough to believe there is no record keeping of who has bought what then keep on keeping on lol.
Enforcing the nics enforces ffl record keeping.
It's like saying you haven't paid any taxes in 5 years while pumping gas, smoking a cigarette. (Both heavily taxed).

No, I was just saying NICS itself is not given SN or data on what you are hoping to purchase. So on paper it can't be used to track down guns to owners. It is merely a go/no go on gun sale.

FFL paperwork can track all this, and thats the price we pay.

I think we are saying the same thing?
