Default Food for thought for brake upgrade guys.

C6 ZO6 brakes are a direct bolt on to the C5 Corvette. Meaning........

If you have a set of C5 conversion brackets from UMI or the like.......C6 ZO6 front brakes are a direct bolt on to the F-Body too. HOWEVER........don't expect your wheels to clear unless they're OEM REAR C5Z wheels, OEM C6Z wheels, or specifically have been checked for clearance.

The calipers NEW are only about $261 and $275 on Amazon (ask me how I know ).

Could be a cheaper upgrade than CTS-V.

Interesting for sure. The CTS-V front calipers run around the same price off amazon (For the Yellow ones) I thought that they would bolt onto the backing plates aswell, unless im wrong on the matter. Do you have the Z06 caliper part #'s by any chance?

I got them on Amazon under part number AC Delco 172-2574 and 172-2573.

Not sure what size rotors the CTS-V brakes use, but these require the 14" rotors.

Gen1 V brakes use 14" (c6z with washers or '10 SS with the centers bored to 72mm) rotors, I think gen2 do as well.

I'm running the gen1 setup but I switched to 98+ spindles so I didn't have to cut mine. I think with the 98+ spindles all you have to do to fit c6/gen2 calipers is open the mounting holes for 14mm bolts. Gen1 is 100% bolt on.

    (That's a two liter)

Ive pondered this myself. My only concern is how well the OEM brake booster would hold up to brakes this massive.
93 Trans Am. M29 6 speed & Spec Stage 3+. AS&M Headers & Corsa exhaust. OEM WS6 Ram Air. Bilstein Shocks & Eibach Pro Kit. Strange 12 Bolt w/ 3.73s. OEM C6 Brakes and a ton of suspension mods...

So... The C6 Z06 brakes (14" rotors, right?) are an exact fit for the C5, meaning they would fit my C5 converted car.

However, since the CTS-V brakes (with the 14" rotor) are a direct bolt on for 98+ spindles, they wouldn't work on a car with conversion brackets, since the caliper mounting bolts are moved out.

Does this make sense? Apparently the calipers are different, but I've always heard they were the same. I doubt I'd do the swap anytime soon, I like my ZR1's too much.
