    Default timing cover swap

    ... okay so i knew about the different optis about there cause of the different styles of timing covers. is there any thing different about the blocks? what is the scoop on running a double timimg chain thing .... i have never looking into this stuff ....

    also if i get the 95 and newer style timing cover and opti will it plug into my 94 car and work?

    '93 was a one off year with a spline drive opti which requires a an OE chain set. '94-95 used the same cover and opti and driven with a dowel pin. '96-97 are essentially the same cover as the '94-95 except they have a spot for the crank sensor. The opti is the same from '94 up. You will most likely need to clearance the timing cover to use with a DR timing chain, but I know they make them for the later years.

    They changed it in 95' not 94'. The 95-97 cover is different and the 95-97 opti is the vented style. *note that 95's dont have a CPS like 96/97*

    so i had a 95 bird before ... i have a MSD opti off that car ... a dowel driven optispark off the cam ... to run that on my 94 car i have to swap a 95 or newer timing cover and cam with a longer dowel right? that is just a plug and play i hope is there any wiring differences?
