Aftermarket speaker/head unit install questions.I am going to be intsalling a
I am going to be installing an aftermarket head unit soon. I believe that I would like to run new speaker wires to the door panels and sail panels. When doing so, where do I splice into the factory harness? Do I just crimp the speaker wires directly to the harness on the head unit? Is it possible to just crimp female speaker terminals onto the wires going to the existing door speakers so that I don't have to worry about running new wires into the doors? My car's factory bose system does not have speakers in the sail panel right now, so is it even possible to splice into the harness somewhere and install speakers in the door panels or could I just crimp those speaker wires straight to the harness that will come with the head unit too? Any and all help/input/advice is GREATLY appreciated! I really don't understand car audio at all lol.

wow really new wire everywhere??
there is nothing wrong with the factory wires the only wire i ran was for the tweeters because i had put crossovers in.my car has 10 speaker preminum stereo with 6.5in woofers in the sail panels.all you have to do is get the harness that makes it so you just plug the new radio in than replace whatever speakers you want.
actually you cant beat this if all you want is a new radio and not a megga system.

I agree with busted. Your very right as there may be nothing wrong with your factory wires, but they are very cheap and small gauge wires. Copper count in the wires is bad. I've been into car audio for a long time. I usually always replace factory wire for a bigger gauge, higher copper count wire. Especially if you plan on amplifying the components.

I always just bought a harness and antenna adapter along with the install kit. @KeeAudio can help you out. Otherwise, Crutchfield or SonicElectronix are other places I frequent. Then just connect the radio harness to the adapter harness, no cutting or splicing with the factory harness necessary. Running new wire for a simple install is crazy unless you have lots of time on your hands, something is wrong with your wiring, or you are just anal about sound systems in general.

I ran all new wires back when I did mine sometime in 2008. It was not difficult at all. When I first installed an aftermarket radio in this car (back before it was mine) I just hooked up the Wal-Mart install kit and harness and ran the factory Bose speakers. It sounded great for a couple years, but the Bose amps didn't like the radio's high level inputs straight to them.

Thanks for all of the replies! I'll probably change my mind 20 more times before i actually do anything, but as of right now, i will probaly just crimp female ends on the factory wires because i really really reaslly do not want to run new wires.
