Yea I did it on my first 6 speed. Worn out syncronizers and didn't center up very well.

i missed a 2-3 once in a C6 grand sport, shifting at 7k. oops.

That's where I see the benefit to it. It would allow you to push the shifter positively to the stop and into 3rd gear instead of relying on the centering springs

EDIT (^^^^THAT^^^^) LOL
But if ur not worried about the 2-5 shift...u lessen the odds of the 2-1 shift cause ur not trying to FIND the sweet spot... ur being guided right in to it...Last edited by popo8; 12-26-2014 at 11:40 PM. Reason: Cause i agree with firebird^^^

Yeah, that's what makes it such a good thing to have in my opinion. Instead of thinking about it and trying to get the shifter to go in between 1 and 5, you just push to the right and you can't miss with the 5-6 lockout engaged. While missing 3rd and going to 5th isn't a big deal other than the lost time, missing 3rd and going to 1st can be very damaging. Much more than the $80 cost of this device.

I'm not saying the product listed above doesn't work or am bashing it in any way, but I wanted to point out that there are a few wear items in your shifter and where it connects to your trans that can be addressed first. When I first installed my Pro 5.0 shifter I had one instance where i went 1-2-1 and I blame it on improperly set centering spring pressure in the shifter and a worn cup in the transmission where the pivot ball of the shifter engages. I installed springs that were a little stiffer and use the adjustments on the shifter to get the feel just right. The shifter pops back to center every time now. I then replaced the plastic cup in the transmission with a bronze one with much tighter clearance. There is absolutely no slop in my shifter now and makes hitting the gears much easier. With the tight shift pattern of the T-56 any slop will only make it harder to hit shifts and will hurt your confidence when you approach that shift light.
With only these two things changed I made hundreds of 7100 RPM shifts without missing a gear, I can't even remember the last time I missed any gear after I replaced those two items to be honest.97 Trans Am M6
