yup, that sounds right! mix it 1:1, 2 gallons of dip will give you about 15-20 coats on the car.

Awesome. So with it thinned like that, does the finish come out pretty smooth? I've seen some dip jobs that looked kinda lumpy and "textured" for lack of a better word. Does thinning it help prevent that? Also, what should I look for in a paint gun? I have a 15 gallon craftsman compressor that says it's only good for intermittent use with a HVLP gun.

Alot of the texture comes from how close/far and how fast/slow you spray it.

Yeah my texture isn't nice and smooth. I'm sure with a spray gun and thinner it will come out pretty good! 15-20 coats! Holy crap!

I wouldn't spray with a 15gal. In your case, you may want to use the electric gun DYC sells or upgrade your compressor. Consistent PSI is important when using a compressor to paint. You don't have to worry about that with the electric gun.

Plus you need to worry about precipitation/water, etc. I probably paid as much in in-line filters, regulator, lines, hoses, and desiccant setup as I did for the compressor.

I never used plastidip, but when spray painting something, I generally do light thin coats. If you put it on thick like it's a magic marker, it'll be textured and crappy. Maybe dip is different, but doubtful?

I still need to revise it to add some stuff to it and finish it off, but this is the jist of it.

yes it will be as smooth as vinyl, but it will not hid any imperfections in the paint.

You can lightly sand areas, and use small pieces of vinyl to cover them up
