opti failure arrived and hx35 turbo ideas.
so after about 3 months of driving with the no start after warm or no start period with no codes i replaced my icm, fuel pump, coil and finally i got an ac delco opti off of ebay for reasonable price replaced my old msd one the previous owner told me he just installed who knows. now with the bbk headers (shorty) and a tune from solomon my car is running like a champ. now i have gotten a hx35 turbo for get this 35 bucks from a friend im going to put new bearings in and seals, i was thinking of using it for a remote mount set up like maybe removing the cat installing it there or my next choice would be cut the rear passanger floor board out and create another hump like for the cat up front is. anyone got any other ideas where i could mount it and the best way to get oil to it please chime in for me.

really well i was am planning on using the turbo i got off my bubby it came off his 2001 3500 dodge ram i know i probably need to weld up the internal waste gate they are rated 30 lbs of boost for those diesel engines so i am starting off by reading and gathering all parts to properly match things up to have a reliably turbo lt1 for my dd i drive her now and she is running sweet i just also need to find an ls aluminum drive shaft to get the last bit of vibration out of it. so all help you great guys on here can send my way , i would be most grateful. i plan on not tearing into the engine leaving it all stock as far as cam and pistons but i dont plan to run but 6 lbs of boost so i think everything should be good.

It's gonna require a lot of fab and stuff, doing all the oil lines to the turbo, scavenge pump, proper tuning, etc. By that point you coulda just bought a complete sts kit and got it tuned

Rear mounts are sized very differently from front mounts. There are some sites dedicated to homemade rear mount systems that may be of some help. The biggest reason rear mounts get dogged is because the turbo is not sized properly. It can cause lagging or flutter. However I'm certainly not one to shoot down creativity or using what you have to make something work. If you are shooting for that low of boost I would suggest doing a mid mount like you mentioned, where the cat goes. This may alleviate sizing problems common with the homemade rear mounts and still give you decent response. The good thing about the scavenge pump and lines is you can always find someone to buy them if it's a flop or you lose interest, and the turbo is worth what you have in it. So worst case scenario (as long as your tune is right and you don't pop the engine) is you lose a bunch of time in the project but gain a lot of knowledge. Go for it and make a build thread
