I always torque brake right up until it feels like the tires will start spinning... hold it there...and dump on the third yellow.

Thanks! Well, I had my feet on the gas and the brake at the same time when the lights started coming down. Just enough pressure to hold from moving but no high revs. It would launch hard, no spin, until the 2nd gear shift and it would spin/chirp but was all good after that. I think the track prep was helping a lot. There were a bunch of 1/8th mile Super Stockers with turbos. They HAD to have traction the way they were launching. It was a cold day too. I must have looked like such a slow poke.............they were going 5.4s at 130 in the 1/8th..........crazy fast.
I think I'll start messing with the Hypertech custom power tuning next (step up the cooling fan temps and shift points). I just gotta break 100 mph.

Seems like a strong running stock car. Have you done any weight reduction? Still stock manifolds? The biggest gains you will see in ETs will be a higher stall and sticky tires. Good luck on your LT1 adventure and have fun.

No weight reduction (yet). Still stock manifolds. Afraid to try stickies until I beef up the rear (and buy a few spare U-joints).

I went back to Mason-Dixon this past Saturday (Nov 15th) - perfect weather (mid-40s, no wind, all sun) - took my son along and we stocked up on snacks and drinks, got there and my son says "looks pretty empty - you sure they're open?" I said, "of course they are - look at this weather - they must all be parked on the back side of the track". Sat there for a short time, noticed there was no one collecting money and two other cars were there - the one guy said, "I just called and they said the track was closed due to weather"! Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!
Man, I wanted to get just one more shot at breaking 100mph before the end of the season!
Oh well, I guess I'll do some planning over the winter now.
