Deffinatly check that cam lobe, those retainers (dog bones) are what keep the rollers in line on the cam. Without it the roller can turn sideways which will ruin a lobe/cam in no time!

is that pic in post #7 the bottom of the lifter that sets on the lobe?
It is kinda blurry there and a lil hard for to fully understand what I am seeing in the pic.
If it is the bottom of lifter that rids on the lobe, that cam is TOAST!!!
Look down that lifter bore and look at the lobe.

The LS7 lifter set is #12499225, can be had for around $100. Definitely worth switching them all out while you're in there, especially if you're going with a more aggressive cam.

Ls7 lifters have had way too many failures to give me any kind of warm and fuzzy, I'd either source a high mile cheap maybe rid knock lt1 off Craigslist and rob those lifters and cam and part out the rest. Might be able to come out with a profit and a running motor.

I just remembered that I have a set of lifters sitting by the camaro, I'll have to go inspect them and see what they look like but iirc they weren't bad lookin... I swear some weeks my brain just shuts down, must be a blonde thing?
