1996 Reluctor assembly.
As many times as I've done this and I still can't remember to take a dam' picture.
On the 1996 Crankshaft Reluctor, the washer... does the washer go between the reluctor and the crank timing sprocket, or does it go between the sprocket and the balancer hub? Basically does the washer go behind or in front of the reluctor. It makes sense both ways.
I checked shbox and that diagram doesn't show the washer at all... so please, fellas: "HELP!"
Thanks... .96 Z LTx. 396 Forged Eagle BE, AFR195s, CR 12.5:1 Comp Ultra-Pro Mag1.6 RRs, Lt-4 Intake, 42lb FI, 58mm TB, Comp 292XFI Cam, Kook LTs, PerformaBuilt Lvl-3, SS 3600, 4" DS, Spooled Strange D-60 w/5.13s, BMR K-mem & A-arms, Hotchkis out back, Mazeire, MSD Digi-6 , Nano-N2O, 75 shot: 7.28 @ 95.7 1.6 60' - New Build: NA-SF 7.4 1.6 60' 93 Mph

The 1996 factory manual does not show a washer either. Are you using the stock hub/damper, or an aftermarket hub/damper like the ATI?

No washer if your using the reluctor the washer is for 93-95 when used with aftermarket hubs or stock 96-97 hub 93-95 don't use the reluctor if you look at the washer it's the same thickness of the center section of the reluctor

No.. this washer is much thinner and has the same notch for the key.
Shbox said the same things you guys are saying that the 96 manuals don't show it. And I honestly don't recall when it came into play. Maybe it was with the ATI Damper. All I know for sure, is that it was there when I pulled the gear this time around. In further consideration, I can see the 'shadow' where it sat in front of the reluctor.96 Z LTx. 396 Forged Eagle BE, AFR195s, CR 12.5:1 Comp Ultra-Pro Mag1.6 RRs, Lt-4 Intake, 42lb FI, 58mm TB, Comp 292XFI Cam, Kook LTs, PerformaBuilt Lvl-3, SS 3600, 4" DS, Spooled Strange D-60 w/5.13s, BMR K-mem & A-arms, Hotchkis out back, Mazeire, MSD Digi-6 , Nano-N2O, 75 shot: 7.28 @ 95.7 1.6 60' - New Build: NA-SF 7.4 1.6 60' 93 Mph

The ATI hub comes with a spacer, so the hub can be used with the reluctor (no spacer), or without the reluctor (spacer required). That's why I asked if you had something like the ATI.
If you have been using the spacer with the reluctor, your crank pulley would not have been aligned properly with the rest of the pulleys/tensioner. Have you been experiencing a problem with belt alignment?
For confirmation of the above, go to the ATI application chart, and read Note 7 at the bottom of the page under "GM F-Body Serpentine Dampers".
http://www.atiracing.com/products/da...s/damchevy.htm
The note instructs you to discard the spacer, but has the wrong years shown.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.
