    Default Installing Lower Control Arms

    I don't like taking my car to the shop to get work done and the person who used to help me with everything car related is not around anymore.

    I bought some LCAs but I really don't know how to install it. I can use basic tools so if anyone can just explain these instructions better that would be great. Like it says don't jack the car on the axle.. where should I support the rear then? Thanks!

    Is this where I place the jackstands? Sorry for all the questions, but how should I go about getting the car in the air like this and having my jack stands there? Does the front of the car need to be supported like in the picture? I don't have ramps, only a floor jack, factory jack and 2 jack stands.

    What I do when I install LCA's, I jack up the rear of the car from the center section of the axle. I put the body on jack stands, then lower the axle a little so I have some wiggle room, then I unbolt and remove then install each LCA one side at a time. It's literally one of the easiest bolt on mods you can do. You'll be fine with floor jack and stands. I did one set in a parking lot because I didn't have anywhere else to work.

    In that pic, they drove the car up on ramps to make it easier to get the car up and make it easier to work under. It's not necessary but it helps.

    1. Jack rear on the pumpkin
    2. Place jack stands where the yellow arrow is in the picture
    3. Lower jack on axle a little (not completely?)
    4. Install LCA's

    Funny... I've got a picture from 14 years ago, of Steve Spohn installing my weld-in LCA relo brackets, and he has the jack stand exactly where the one in your installuniversity picture is located. I don't think it makes that much difference - although I do have the reinforcement of the subframe connector in that area. The photos are almost identical, including the front of the car up on ramps.

    Thanks guys, it was easier than I thought! They slid right into place, perfect! Only problem I had was getting the car in the air. I used blocks of wood to support the car and it worked great. Thanks again
