rear main seal
I am going to swap transmission and torque converters on my 94 While I was taking apart I think I'm going to try and do the rear main seal. Yup it leaks... bad ... I joking call my car the Exxon Valdez ... never done a rear main seal ... how hard is it ... trans and verter will be out of the car. Will I need to drop the oil pan any?

It's very easy. You'll see 3 small pry points on the housing to pop it out, then just gently tap the new one in. No special tools needed. I used the Fel-pro one made with PTFE.
Here's my old seal removed, you can see the pry points on the housing.

also when you have it off check the crank for a grove where the seal sits. if it has one get a sleeve kit for it.
mine had a big grove in it

Just pry the old one out and pop the new one in.
The felpro kit also comes with a gasket for the RMS adapter plate that goes against the block. Avoid taking that off at all costs. You'll have to lower the oil pan and spend a good amount of time awkwardly scraping the factory gasket from the back of the engine block. Mine didn't come off easy, even with the help of razor blades.96 Z28 - ERE-383, AFRs, 9", Procharger D1, TermiX, etc.

If you have the time to wait for it to ship, order it from @American-Powerhouse. The FelPro rear main seal I got from Gail included the plastic sleeve to assist with install, made it nice and easy to just tap it in.
