Yes my egr is still in place. Here in AZ emission is required. Somehow my car has been able to pass emissions. I'm not even certain how long it's been like this.

Thanks, that will help a lot. Thanks to all for your help.

Here it is. I've already torn out all of my HVAC...which is why it is so easy to get to. I'm sure it is much more obstructed if you still have yours.

The OBD-1 diagnostic for EGR flow is not very sensitive. The PCM cycles the EGR valve, and looks for a change in manifold absolute pressure (MAP). For some reason, deleting the valve does not seem to set the code in more than 1/2 of the cases. With a decent cat, NOx emissions should still be under control, even without the EGR system working.

Do your headers have connections for the AIR tubes? Unusual to have no EGR, but keep the AIR on headers. AIR only becomes a problem on the OBD-1 cars if they do a "visual".

Yes, those I still have and they make it a pain to do anything on the passenger side. Block the gas tube and I should be ok.

I read that the heat from that tube causes the intake manifold gasket to fail.i took mine off and put block off plates on.

I'm going to have to order some. That tube is useless just sitting there.
