Strange front coilover question?
Bought strange coilovers today and i dont like the way they bolt on the strut mount. It looks like all the weight of the car will be supported by the little metal sleeve and rubber of the mount. Had anyone ever had any trouble with this and if so is
there a solution?
I was thinking of maybe running a washer to help distribute the weight.
Any insight is appreciated
Thanks

i don't like them either.they look like they would bust out the mount.i'm thinking gm designers probably new what they were doing and coil-overs are a bad idea.the way the front bolts up on the stock setup is pretty much a coilover.
what brand are those?
i have no insight other than i would not bolt those up.
anyone else have something good to say for this guy?

Looks like mine, no problems after 4 years. Strange DA's with 300# spring.

That setup would make me nervous. Just the load from the shock is sometimes enough to tear the metal ferrule out of the center of the stock upper spring/shock mount, particularly when they start to dry rot. Adding the entire spring load to the small ferrule would seem to increase the probability of failure. The QA1 puts the top of the spring in the groove of the stock upper seat, not on the center ferrule. The upper mount does have the "dogbone" insulator on top of it to spread the load though. And the STrange instructions show that upper metal disc, that looks like it's stamped out of sheet metal.

looking at the pdf injuneer they have 2 types of spring setups available. you can put on the other type of spring by removing the top spring seat and using part #spc300a.

imo that setup would be for a dedicated track car only. i prefer the stock style setup.

Im going to install them on wednesday. In theroy the insulator is designed to keep the center from ripping out as load increases the insulator will push against the upper control arm bracket therefore stopping movement of rubber in strut mount.
I hope to see a big inprovement in 60ft times. I bout single adjustables shocks in rear and the coil overs up front.
