Depends who did the tune and how well they did it. The LT4 HOT cam is a "mature" product. Most tuners should know how to tune it. I'm not a tuner, so there's not much I could tell you from the file. Looking at a data log, I'm looking for signs of problems, not relating it to the quality of the tune.

There really is no exact way of saying that a car has XXX HP left in it or can be gained through a tune. A tune is generally about making a good balance of power and economy while maintaining reliability and making the car enjoyable to drive. With no tune on a hotcam you could only gain 10 HP or maybe 40 HP, who knows??? With a good tune your driveability should become more enjoyable, then that's what makes it worth it in my opinion. I will also warn you about the WOT tuners. They are tuners that will strap your car on a dyno and only make WOT changes. That's good and all, but if the car runs like a dog around town and gets 5 mpg, it's not what you want either. You need a good balance which is 100% achievable with a hotcam and a 6 speed.

An investment in a good tune is good money spent. You will save more hassle and money over time with the car running right in all driving conditions.

And you have tuned a hotcam car before lol.

I completely agree with what nate is saying, everyone tunes different, and to be honest my first tuner basically made my car safe at wot and idle a little better, that was about it. I felt like there was more on the table, and nate got it spot on in driveability and it feels better up top

not sure if it was said, but if you are going to tune it yourself, get a wideband. takes the guess work out of it.

+1 with Nate! great guy and like said before he will teach yeah what he is doing. He has helped me greatly in getting to know tunercats. Have had many questions he has answered for me.....gonna donate a 24 pack to him.
.And if anyone else is going from LT1 Edit to Tunercats...Nate is well trained in the process now There are some tables that LT1 Edit is missing that tunercats has and really makes tuning easier if your beyound just bolt on's, and had the answer of injector offsets for holley 50lb'ers that no one in the last 12 years hasnt been able to tell me. Finally a car that is drivable!
