Tune needed???
Ok so currently my car has a Hotcam, 1.6's, midi headers, ory, 160 therm, no cats, cutout, underdrive, airfoil, egr!, air!, LS K&N Fipk intake, ngk platinum plugs, had 4.10s but now has 3.23 due rear blowing out. (will be replaced soon again with 4.10's)
My tune from previous owner is mail order and only tuned for hotcam and 4.10's...
I have been thinking of getting a dyno tune... is there any point in this for the money? I have heard a lot of people pick up decent numbers with a bolt on tune. Give me some feedback. Looking at having hawksthirdgen or pcmforless do it as they are close by.

Was anything done in the tune for the 160* 'stat? What year is the car? If OBD-2 did you have the AIR, EGR and cats (rear O2's) tuned out? Auto trans? If so, the speedo error may be playing havoc with the shift points.

I was hoping I would find you here, Injuneer. You have provided me with a lot of great information in the past few years. Car is a 1994. She is obd1, and 6spd. I believe she is tuned for the 160*. I can double check if needed. There is a decal on the computer listing the few tuned items. @Injuneer

I would recommend talking to Nate @ mickelson Performance (sweet-94z28), He is a board sponsor and a tuner. I have read a lot of good about him he will teach and help you alot, I had him do my mail order tune.

i recommend nate @sweet-94z28 as well if you have a cable and the free programs to tune with. its worth the investment in the cable for diagnostics as well when you have problems. nate knows his stuff, and will explain to you everything he is doing. pcmforless i have heard ALOT of bad things about, and when i had my 5.7 tpi iroc, i wasnt all that impressed with their tunes. maybe you would be different since you are going right to them.

I am currently gathering all the necessary pieces to tune. I have the cable (need obd1 adapter), computer, looking at tunercats and a scan program. Any suggestions? @sweet-94z28

There's free scanning software available that was specifically written for the 94/95 F-Body LT1:
http://www.firebirdnation.com/forums...495-lt1-obd-1/
I've reviewed a lot of scans done with this software and it works great.SOLD - GONE TO A (VERY) GOOD HOME ! - 94 Formula A3+1: 381ci forged stroker - Callies Stealth, Oliver 5.85 billet rods, BME nitrous pistons / CNC LT4 heads / CC solid roller / TH400+GearVendors OD / 4.11 Strange 12-bolt / 300-shot N2O / Spohn Suspension / roll bar / MoTeC M48 Pro engine management system /a few other odds 'n ends.

I am really wondering how much more power is left in the tune? And how much power is there to be gained from a dyno tune vs. say just a scan and retune? @Injuneer @sweet-94z281994 Trans Am Gt
LT1 6spd, Hotcam, 1.6rr, LS Fipk Intake, Mid L Headers, ORY, Hooker Aerochamber, UD Pulley, Airfoil, Cutout,
3.23 rear (4.10s coming), etc.... its becoming a blur
