What type of mechanic are you looking for? I generally don't have my car worked on, but there are a couple shops I was considering to build my shortblock. Please know that I have only spoken to the owners after researching many in the area. These are the two that made it to the top of my list. I haven't worked with them so I can't speak to their work.
Don Lee Auto
Owner: Tim Lee
http://www.donleeauto.com/
Rancho Cucamonga. Worked on quite a few f-bodies. Featured in Chevy performance magazines. I have seen this shop mentioned in the turbo Buick forums as well.
Dick Wagoner
Owners: Reed & Jeff
Lawndale. Dyno & performance shop. I've seen a '93 Procharged build from them that turned out great. The owner of the car couldn't say enough good things about them.

Well I was going to have a guy do mine and dads stroker machine work because I used to work with him and he now has his own machine shop up in Ukiah ca and he was very good 25 years ago and I kinda doubt hes gotten worse at his job but other than that I dont really know anybody else sorry.
