Welding 10 bolt up
I know I know, it's gonna suck turning in parking lots and will wear tires more quickly, those 2 things I am 110% not worried about.
What I would like to ask to anyone who has done this is what you used to clean all the gear oil off with and did you have to preheat the gears?
My posi is getting unpredictable exapecially turning right under power, sometimes it will just peg leg and sometimes it will do what it's supposed to do, I just want it locked all the time.
I plan on a 8.8 build whenever I can afford some 30 spline axles but even when I do that I plan to run a full spool and untill I upgrade I'll be running plan only 235 street tires.

Summit sells mini spools for $85. Then you don't have to worry about grenading the spider gears through your fuel tank.

I think they only work with a open carrier, my buddy is a welder so hopefully they will hold together.

Use a lot of brake clean to flush all the gear oil out. Obviously let it evaporate fully before welding it. Preheating would be best. If you want a lot of write ups about welding a diff search zilvia welded diff on google. s chassis guys run them all the time.

The main problem with welding the spider gears or adding a spool is its all being done to an already weak rearend. Now as for the safety aspect
when you do finally break an axle the car will yank to one side and possibly injure you, the car or someone else. Very dangerous choice.

Its extremely dangerous the way it is now, I never know if its going to slide or start sliding half way though a turn, its VERY unpredictable especially on right turns.
Id like it to be solid I dont plan on running any tires with alot of traction anyways so I doubt ill break any axles, ive seen plenty of ring gear/pinon gear failures spider gear failures but never a broke axle? I could be wrong though.

I would NOT use brake clean and then weld. Just google "weld brake clean" You'll get tons of answers as to why not. It is seriously dangerous if you inhale the fumes. Even after the brake clean is dry and evaporated there are still chemicals in the metal left over that when burned are toxic. Use a water based degreaser.
