Help 93 z28 Breaking Starters !!
My friend bought my old 93 z28 and he had the engine Rebuilt a few months ago. Just freshend everything up. He drove it all last month no problems and he goes out one morning to leave for work and the starter breaks. So he thinks no big deal I need a new starter. after installing two more starters it just keeps breaking them off around the nose cone around the gear. What could be the deal with this ? Big thanks to anyone with info

are they breaking immediately after install? Or is it spinning over or trying to start or grinding before breaking?

I had this issue happen to my old built tuned port car I was running 10/5/1 compression with a stock 305 starter and it would hold for a little bit and then boom the bell would fly off and it would split the case a bit so I upgraded but after that I have an accel injector get stuck wide open and it filled the cylinder full and locked the engine up and I didn't know I tried to start it and boom there went the starter again . Now even if he bumped compression up to 12to1 the stock LT1 starter should be fine there basically a mini torque starter from the factory . Is the engine rolling over at all or as soon as he hits the key boom?
