    Default Actual Lt1 block strength?

I here everone saying 1000 hp is the magic number for when the block breaks, but has anyone actually broke a lt1 block from putting to much HP through it? I see quite a few pushing them past those limits.

They will go over 1k. Don't know where you got that info. Most failures come from sub par builds where corners have been cut. A well built lt1 with the correct parts can withstand a serious amount of power.
1996 camaro Z28, Clayton racing 398, Rossler TH350 rmvb with brake, FTI billet race converter 4400, Dana S60 with 4.10's, 300 shot, Accel DFI controlled, UMI, Spohn, PA racing, QA1's, Baer brakes, 325/45/17 M&H, Caged, Corbeau's, Simpson, etc.

It's just a rounded number. I've heard 800-1100 hp. I was kinda wondering if anyone had any photo evidence of a broken block also?

LT1 blocks will handle ALOT more than 1100 as long as the engine is properly prepped. We aint playin' with no Ford bullshit that'll split right down the middle past 500 crank hp. Who ever told you that is full of bull honky.

Agree..... the LT1 block is amazingly strong for a production block. They can take 20+ pounds of boost. And there are guys putting down 1000 rwhp and there have been some 1200 rwhp engines.

anyone that says our blocks fail at 1000 HP have no idea what they are talking about.

If you hard block fill a LT1 block, put a blower on it, and run it on Methanol/nitro mix I'm sure you could make 1500HP+ a couple of times all motor. People used to use STOCK 426 Hemi motors with 8-71 blowers on top running nitro, they would either make a couple thousand HP or go boom and get another junkyard engine. I imagine you'll find your weak link on the main bearing caps, if you want to know the strength of a the LT1, just find out what the max HP someone has made on a SBC Gen 1.
