What do you mean by killing optis?

    What brand are you using?

    Rotors backing out?

the first few were advance brand then I picked up a few from autozone and as far as killing them, you'll be driving down the road get in the throttle a little bit then you'll get a backfire and it shuts down, cranks freely and wont start back till you replace the opti

Are you disconnecting and reconnecting the battery and still no spark prior to replacement? There's a lot more to it it seems

Hmm. Maybe it's a bad opti pigtail. Wires can look OK on the outside and still be broken. My brother's Trans Am did this after we put the motor in it. After the 2nd time the car died, I replaced the pigtail and the issue went away. And we used GM optis.

Ill vouch for the pigtail. I bought a cheap eBay one thinking it was good enough since it looked ok. For no reason at all it would cut out. Bought one from ws6store and haven't had any issues with it cutting out. Looks are definitely deceiving on this ignition setup.

Did you ever scan it for codes in the course of replacing the Opti 6 times? Loss of the pulse signals, whether due to the Opti optical module, or the connector/wiring, will set DTC 16 and/or DTC 36. Blue corrosion in the harness connector pins isn't unusual, and that will interfere with communication.

yeah I always disconnect the battery, and after each opti the car fires up and takes off just fine, ive drove the car a little bit just regular driving but it seems like everytime I get in the throttle that's when everything goes haywire, and ive changed the pigtail with every opti the new ones im getting at autozone come with a new one

    Codes?

Have you examined the internals for damage after removing a failed unit?

yeah everything looks just as good as when I take them out of the box, ive had a few rotor buttons come off so that was my first thought when the problem started, plus my car hasn't been tuned since the new motor could that have any effect?
