Do you guys think I am bring too mean? She is wanting help saying her car isn't running...I said check the fuel filter and see if it was clogged because it sat for a few months...she said her mechanic said it was good

Well, not everyone that works at auto parts stores are idiots. The term "mechanic" gets used very loosely anymore. You have to take what people say their mechanics have told them with a grain of salt. State the facts and give your suggestions and let it be.
