I had to trim up as close as I could to the step on the hood striker support.

My gain was done at the track I had all of them at one time and the K&N was best until I got the lid set up. The test at my track was Morison cai then to the lid and on 3 runs roughly 15 minutes apart I went 2 tenths and 1.8 MPH quicker that's all the proof I needed

The only thing stopping me from doing it is that it means the radiator has to lean back even more.... I want people to be able to see the engine, not have the radiator blocking it entirely

Which aftermarket hood for a Camaro would you need that would make it so that you could use the LS1 radiatory support for a bolt in installation?

I used my stock z28 Hood with a small amount trimmed in the middle bracing and just modified the core support.

@Chrizar has an SS hood he used -- he literally just installed the lid in place without the LS1 radiator support. The LS1 lid and filter are pushing the radiator back and it's firmly in place without any support on the top.

I've done this several times. I trimmed an LS support and used it on a stock hook twice! I also used a trimmed support on an SS hood.
My car has a 2" cowl so I have the whole LS radiator support on it. I had to trim that hood just a tad.

I used the LS base with a SLP lid on a cowl hood with little trimming

http://ltxtech.com/forums/showthread...t-new-to-LT1-s I have a picture in there of mine with an SS hood and how it is setup, I can post more pics of how I did it if needed. I used Joel's write up as well. Definately has more throttle response and pulls great all the way to redline.
