    Default air bag removal

May not be in the right section, so if not please put in correct place

Now, how the hell do you get the air bags out? The passenger side is blown and need to get it out. Also, how do you get the cover off of the replacement so that you don't have to put the whole heavy thing back in?

Steering wheel airbag is complete but I wantto remove the steering wheel because its in horrible condition.

DISCLAIMER: I don't recommend pulling air bags on street cars. Only on track cars. And stress you understand the risk. And some states its unlawful to operate a factory air bag car with bags removed.

You will need to pull the dash to get the passenger bag out. The cover is part if the dash. And isn't connected to the bag. You need to get a dremel. And lightly cut around the edge on back side. And it will come off(guessing you got a parts dash from description)

The driver bag is held in with torq screws on back of steering wheel.

You will need to pull the air bag light. Or it will annoy the crap out of you.

Make sure you disconnect the battery. And let the electric system drain. So it don't go off by accident.

LMAO!! I love the disclaimer!! Thanks for the info. I'll double check, but I'm almost positive that one of the air bags I have has the cover on it. Could it be for another year or am I delirious?

If I'm delirious, could I just fiberglass the hole in my dash that it left, or are there screws under there that are needed to be taken out to remove the dash?

LOL had to do that so if someone does this. Then gets in a wreck and breaks there neck. They can't say Justin(MeanTA) said it was ok.

The cover is part of the dash and will have a seam in the plastic so it can separate when bag goes off. I had to swap covers in my TA when i did my dash swap. I just glued the cover onto my dash. When you unbolt the bag it will separate from the dash. Leaving the cover on the dash. It shouldnt be glued to the bag. Because it needs to separate and swing up on the strap attached to the top of dash.

The steering wheel on my vette is actually split down the middle. I use it to hide stuff since my bag is gone.
