    Default Summit 383 block

Could this be used as a platform for a LT1 build?

No. The LT1 and SBC blocks while close are different enough to be non-interchangeable.

No this block is a gen 1 small block so it does not have reverse flow cooling, and the timing chain cover and water pump is different so you couldn't use an opti.

not sure that is much better, all depends on who is casting the blocks. i know a little more than i would like to about the oem world. cost of casting has killed alot of casting houses in the U.S. (damned shame!) seems like the ones that are left are a pain to deal with as well. either way i have heard of issues with some of the blocks coming from china, fwiw. remember 99% of the time the lowest bidder gets the work!
