I lucked out big time and got a pair of very nice honeycomb taillights from Ebay, for $40.00 plus $15.00 for shipping.
WOW.

My 383 Stroker Short Block
I figured I would bring my thread back to life. I am now debating about whether or not to just put this baby into my Bird.
I had a good friend, an expert engine builder, put together an all forged 383 LT1, for me. I picked the rotating assembly.
12.4:1 compression for N/A power--around 550 hp with a 244/254 cam.
Note the Pro-Gram "straps" atop the stock caps, for exceptional strength on this two bolt main block. Yes, the caps were machined professionally to accept the Pro-Grams. Only $650 more for this, including the parts (he he he).
-5cc Mahle PowerPak Pistons
Callies 6" forged Rods
Callies Forged 4340 steel nitrided 3.75" crank.
I'm going with a Pioneer Keyed crank hub so the dampener doesn't spin on me.

Hey again.
It would be LE2 heads with 219/227 cam (Elliott's version of the Crane 227 "baby cam") on top of my stock 4 bolt main LT1, along with the LE intake.
It would be a well set up and complete combo with 380-400 whp.
As we speak, I am installing a 3.73 fresh 10 bolt, new Bilsteins and Stranos, LCA relocation brackets, an LS1 driveshaft, and subframe connectors. I plan to do a tunnel mounted torque arm, as soon as Founders has them available, which should be very soon.
When I do the heads and cam (if I go this route), I'll do at least a Yank ss3600 stall. My 4L60e performs FLAWLESSLY, and I love it.
It'd be a plenty fast street car.Last edited by New2chevy; 03-24-2013 at 12:47 AM.

If I do just the heads and cam, I would probably sell my 383 short block, if anyone wants to pay me what it is worth, and it aint cheap.
