So your just doing a cap and rotor?
Basically it is a myth that optispark do not like water. In fact the do not like long exposure to moisture however closely monitored sumbersion is just fine. To ensure that your optical sensor will offer you years of dependable service ensure that your ventalation system is working properly and use a suitable grease cutter to clean the unit prior to installing the new cap and rotor.
You will need a dish soap, oven or dishwasher 2 tier sink and a sponge.
This procedure will also verify the integrity of the rotor screws by placing corrosion in place of lock tite.
Yucky

Add a bit of jack Daniels. The grease hates distilled liquor.

As I mentioned the opti does not like being exposed for long periods of time to moisture so gently dip the component in and out for an initial grease removal. The touch of your hand will ease the feelings and not resent you for drowning it.

We can see moving on the the rinse and oil spill stage the bulk of the oil and grease has been removed. I say oil spill stage as you will place the drive in the drain and gentle work the dish soap into the recesses of the unit. During this step it is a good idea to play Celine Dion or Hall n Oats. The opti was feel comfortable in your hand

Ooh so clean. Once you have ensured there is no more grease inside the Cap ensure to tip the component prior to the dry stage

No the opti loves a smooth running 200-250 degree engine. I have found it feels best at home with the component of whites. Dishes that is.

Once you have allowed the opti to dry during this period place it back on the vehicle

Proceed to test fire fill with coolant and test drive!

Oh and make sure not to turn your garage disposal on during this process. It will tear the drive up on a vented unit
